McLaren has won the last two Miami Grand Prix events. Oscar Piastri won the annual event at the Miami International Autodrome in Miami, Florida.
One year ago, Lando Norris took home the win. When Norris won, it snapped a two-race win streak for Max Verstappen in Miami, as he won in 2022 and 2023.

“I won the race that I wanted to,” Piastri said. “So, no, I mean, yesterday was a tricky day. The sprint was what it was, but qualifying was probably one of my trickiest sessions for the year.

“And to come away with a win still on Sunday is an impressive result. So, yeah, obviously, there’s been a bit of argy-bargy at Turn 1, which helped me out a little bit. And then, yeah, I was aware enough to avoid Max coming through in Turn 1. So, yeah, from that point onwards, I knew that, you know, I had a good pace advantage. And the car was unbelievable, too.”
Piastri has won three straight races. He also won in Bahrain and Jeddah in April.
Overall, Piastri has four wins, as he also won in Shanghai in March. Outside of the four wins by Piastri, Verstappen and Norris have wins.
“I think towards the end, I started to get things a bit more under control,” Piastri said. “But there’s still definitely some things to work on from this afternoon. So, very happy with the win, and very happy with the points, but constantly got to keep learning. So, yeah, very, very happy to be leaving Miami on top.
“I mean, it’s just incredible the hard work that’s gone in. You know, I remember two years ago here in Miami, we were genuinely the slowest team. I think we got lapped twice. And to now have won the Grand Prix by over 35 seconds to third is an unbelievable result. And the hard work of every single person. Firstly, the people here at the factory, but here at the track, but everywhere at the factory as well.”
Norris won the season-opener in Melbourne in March. Verstappen won the Japanese race.
It was a 1-2 finish for McLaren, as Norris finished second. Piastri picked up 25 points. Norris received 18 points.
“It’s never the best feeling, but the team has done an amazing job, so I can’t fault them at all,” Norris said after his second-place finish. “Good pit stops, great pace. We were up the road, so it was a good feeling, but Oscar drove well.”

Mercedes AMG Motorsport driver George Russell finished third. He received 15 points.
