Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper has left Tuesday night’s game against the Atlanta Braves. He was hit by a pitch in the first inning at Citizens Bank Park in South Philadelphia.

Harper took a 95.3 mph fastball off Braves pitcher Spencer Strider’s arm. The ball hit Harper in his surgically repaired elbow.

After being hit, Harper went close to the Phillies’ dugout and collapsed in pain. He was clutching his arm and was helped off the field, as trainers aided him to get tests.

Edmundo Sosa came into the game for Harper. Sosa would play third base as Alec Bohm shifted to first base.

After the 2022 World Series, Harper had Tommy John surgery on the elbow that he was hit on. At press time, there is no immediate update on his condition.

X-rays on Harper’s elbow were negative, according to the Phillies’ broadcast team.

Heading into Tuesday’s game, Bryce Harper was batting .267 with 8 home runs and 33 RBIs. Harper also has 54 hits and 30 runs scored in 53 games.

With the X-rays negative, Harper may sit out the rest of the Braves series as he recovers. The Braves series runs through Thursday before the Milwaukee Brewers come in for a weekend series.

If Harper misses time, Phillies manager Rob Thompson will have to juggle the lineup. Kyle Schwarber may be moved from the clean-up batter to the third batter.

He would then have to move someone into the fourth spot that was previously occupied by Schwarber. He’ll see how he plays this moving forward.

Thompson can also use Weston Wilson off the bench at first base if Bohm is given a day off.
