In an interview on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, John Force Racing Top Fuel Dragster pilot Brittany Force admitted that John Force Racing will be back for the 2021 Camping World NHRA Drag Racing Series season. John Force Racing shut down in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She posted on Twitter that she was attending the Supercross show.

JFR completed the first two events of the 2020 season. Then, once the coronavirus shut down the country in March, the team did not return to the NHRA.

The team has not confirmed its plans yet. However, Force hinted at a return during an interview at the Supercross event in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Force admitted that the team will be back for the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway. The team will return for the weekend of March 12-14th in Gainesville, Florida.

When John Force Racing does return at the Gatornationals, it’ll be the first competition for them since the NHRA Arizona Nationals on February 23rd, 2020.

“Suddenly, the virus hit, and it changed the world,” the legendary John Force said in July 2020. “Robert Hight, President of the company, and I got back from Gainesville and we started working on a plan, we had to reset John Force Racing. Everyone was having to adapt. We had to make cuts everywhere. We ran numbers over and over. In our contracts with sponsors, we have guarantees. They get social media, a certain number of races, a certain number of race days, activation at races, and other commitments. No matter how I looked at it I couldn’t deliver on those commitments. It just wasn’t fair to them.

“The impact of not being able to deliver on these commitments makes sitting out the rest of the 2020 season the right thing to do. No matter how I looked at it, no matter how much I invested, I couldn’t make it.”

While Force admitted that the team will be back, she did not say what the lineup will be. In 2020, before the stoppage, the team featured Brittany Force and Austin Prock in their Top Fuel Dragster.

Living legend John Force and Robert Hight competed in Funny Car. If the Funny Cars return to the track, they’ll look to snap Don Schumacher Racing’s long win streak.

DSR won every Funny Car national event in 2020. DSR has won 14 straight Funny Car events.

Hight was the last non-DSR pilot to win a national event, as he won the NTK NHRA Carolina Nationals on October 14, 2019.
