John Fox

John Fox was a college and NFL coach. His coaching career began in 1978 with the San Diego State Aztecs.

He made several coaching stops from 1979 through 1984. These stops include the U.S. International Gulls, the Boise State Broncos, Long Beach State 49ers, Utah Utes, Kansas Jayhawks, and the Iowa State Cyclones.

He spent one season with the Los Angeles Express in 1985. Following the 1985 season, this USFL team folded.

Fox was then hired by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He spent three seasons as their defensive coordinator.

His first stint in the NFL came with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1989. He was their defensive backs coach through the 1991 season.

After coaching the Steelers, he spent two seasons as the San Diego Chargers defensive backs coach. He spent two seasons as the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator in 1994 and 1995.

Fox joined the St. Louis Rams as a personnel consultant in 1996. In 1997, he was hired as the New York Giants defensive coordinator, where he was employed through the 2001 season.

He received his first head coaching opportunity with the Carolina Panthers. Fox led the Panthers from 2002 through 2010.

The Virginia Beach, Virginia native led the Panthers to Super Bowl XXXVIII. The New England Panthers defeated the Panthers 32-29 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

After coaching the Panthers, he moved onto led the Denver Broncos. He led the Broncos from 2011 through 2014.

Fox guided the Broncos to Super Bowl XLVIII. The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Broncos 43-8 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

His final coaching stop came with the Chicago Bears. He led the Bears from 2015 through 2017.

As a head coach, Fox went 141-130 overall. He went 133-123 in the regular season.

In the postseason, he went 8-7 in the second season.
