Former Top Fuel Dragster Pilot Richie Crampton was released from the hospital on Saturday. He sustained injuries in an accident near Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis in Brownsburg, Indiana.
Dom Lagana was driving the Shitbox of Doom when the accident happened on Sunday, August 9th. He suffered life-threatening injuries.
While Lagana was driving, Richie Crampton and Jacob Sanders were passengers in the 1957 Chevrolet Wagon. Both Crampton and Sanders injured in the accident; however, those injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
Sanders, a Torrence Racing crew member and race car driver, went home to his family just one day after the crash, according to social media.
The unconfirmed speculation is that Lagana has been burned in the accident. The unconfirmed speculation for Crampton is that he suffered a broken hip and a broken arm.
“I’ve been home for over a day now, and finally opening up social media and trying to catch up on all of the amazing messages of support and encouragement,” Crampton said in an Instagram post. “I can’t explain how much our friends have done for me, and also how much of a saint my beautiful wife Stephanie Crampton has been. Now it’s time for me to focus on lifting up our brother Dom! #laganastrong”
Crampton was scheduled to compete in Top Alcohol Funny Car at the prestigious U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis during Labor Day weekend. However, due to his injuries, that’s likely not going to happen now.
Jonnie Lindberg drove his Top Alcohol Funny Car to the win on August 9th with the Shitbox of Doom serving as the tow vehicle. He defeated D.J. Cox in the final round.
Lagana, like Sanders, is a crew member for Torrence Racing. He works on Billy Torrence’s Top Fuel team.
He also has driven Top Fuel and Funny Car in the NHRA. The Shitbox of Doom was the brainchild of Crampton and Lindberg for the 2018 Drag Week event.
