Capco Contractors Top Fuel Dragster driver Steve Torrence is the No. 1 qualifier at the historic Dodge Power Brokers U.S. Nationals. His top spot held up after two additional days of qualifying at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Brownsburg, Indiana.
Torrence went 3.708 at 329.42 mph to get the No. 1 spot on Friday. This is his first No. 1 qualifier at the track near Indianapolis.
This is his second No. 1 qualifier of the season. It is also the 36th of his career.

“We’ve had a pretty consistent race car,” Torrence said. “We utilized the track conditions today to prepare for tomorrow and I feel really confident that the two runs we made today – even though we didn’t make it down the track – what we learned today will be useful for tomorrow. I enjoy coming here and we’ll see what we can do tomorrow. Being No. 1 at Indy for the first time is really special to me and now we’ll see if we can go win this thing (on Monday).”
Torrence will face No. 16 qualifier Will Smith in the first round.
John Force Racing driver Brittany Force is the No. 2 qualifier. She went 3.709 at 33.25 mph.
Force will face No. 15 qualifier Antron Brown in the first round.
Maynard Ashley Racing driver Justin Ashley is the No. 3 qualifier. The New Yorker went 3.714 at 334.73 mph.
She will face Doug Foley in the first round.
Kalitta Motorsports driver Doug Kalitta is the No. 4 qualifier. He went 3.717 at 328.54 mph.
He will face Spencer Massey in the first round.

Scrappers Racing driver Mike Salinas is the No. 5 qualifier. He went 3.721 at 335.32 mph.
The California native will face Tony Schumacher in the first round.
The other pairings include Leah Pruett and Austin Prock. Another pairing is T.J. Zizzo and Clay Millican.
The final pairing is Josh Hart and Shawn Langdon.
