He is now the highest paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
“Something that once was a dream is now my reality,” Jefferson said on social media. “There are so many people that I can sit here and thank but you all know who you are that helped me along the way. But we ain’t stopping here…. There’s more to be done… SKOL!!!!!!!”
Jefferson has an average of $35 million per season. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown was the highest paid receiver in terms of average with $32 million with his extension that he signed this offseason.
There was speculation that NFL teams were calling the Vikings about Jefferson. But those discussions were shut down immediately.
This came early in free agency after Kirk Cousins departed for the Atlanta Falcons. The Vikings did not make a huge free agent quarterback signing.
Instead, the team elected to draft a young quarterback. The team used the 10th overall pick on former Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.
Now, that duo will be together for a long time.
