The Philadelphia Union has officially lost their best striker. Julián Carranza has signed with Feyenoord, a Dutch soccer team.

Before signing this deal with Feyenoord, he was out of contract with the Union this winter. Financial terms of his agreement with Feyenoord were not disclosed.

Feyenoord finished second in the Eredivisie League. They went 26-6-2 in 34 games with 84 points during the 2023-24 season.

With this agreement, Carranza will likely suit up for his new team in August. The team starts its new season on Sunday, August 4th at noon EST.

The 24-year-old Carranza was added to the Union roster on December 23rd, 2021 in a loan transfer from Inter Miami CF. The end of his loan came in July 2022. However, the Union worked an agreement to acquire his rights for good for $455,000.

Before striking this agreement, Carranza played in 12 games for the Union. He made 11 starts.

He had six goals on 43 shots.

Carranza had 28 goals each season in 2022 and 2023 in his first two seasons with the Chester, Pennsylvania-based team. He also had nine assists in 2022 and six assists last season.

The Union are struggling this season. And with this sale price, the team can use that money to add another player this summer transfer window. Or regroup during the winter.

Currently, the team is in 11th position in the Eastern Conference. They are 4-8-7 with 20 points.

The team struggled mightily at home. Their lone win at home came on March 30th against Minnesota United FC when they won 2-0.

Carranza scored in the win over Minnesota United. Dániel Gazdag also tallied a goal in the contest.
