The Atlanta Hawks have drafted forward Zaccharie Risacher with the No. 1 overall pick in tonight’s NBA Draft. The Hawks won the NBA Draft Lottery to receive the top pick back in May.
There was no generational talent in this year’s Draft. Many pundits have said that this was a weak draft.

However, it’s going to be years before one can examine the draft.
This was the second straight year that a French teen was drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft. Last summer, the San Antonio Spurs used the top pick on Victor Wembanyama.
Risacher is considered to be a 3-and-D guy. It’s not clear at press time if Quin Snyder will use him in the starting lineup right away or if he’ll come off the bench.
The Hawks hope that Risacher will improve on their 2023-24 record. The team went 36-46 overall.
They finished 10th overall in the Eastern Conference. They had a chance to make the playoffs but were eliminated in the chance to make the extra season by the Chicago Bulls.
Trae Young led the Hawks with 25.7 points per game. Dejounte Murray — who may be traded in the offseason — was second with 22.5 points per contest.
No other Hawks player averaged more than 17 points. Bogan Bogdanović was their third-leading scorer with 16.9 points.
