WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will make a huge announcement today at 3 pm EST. At the press conference, he will be announcing the return of the XFL.

He will say to those in attendance that the XFL will return in 2020. The reportedly reason for the 2020 return is to build up the league.

The league will be under McMahon’s new company, Alpha Entertainment. He sold WWE shares to garner less than $100 million to help with this new league.

When the XFL does return in 2020, it will be 19-years after his last attempt at a pro football league. The league folded after the 2001 season.

There has been speculation that McMahon would make this announcement following the conclusion of the 30 for 30 on the league. McMahon said at the end that he wanted to give the league another try.
