The extent of his injuries are not known at this time. He is scheduled to have surgery tonight.

Once the surgery is performed, Hendrick Motorsports will know how long their driver will be sidelined.

“Chase’s health is our primary concern,” Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick said in a statement. “He’s spoken with several members of our team and is understandably disappointed to miss time in the car. Of course, he has our full support, and we’ll provide any resources he needs.

“We hope to share another update later this weekend.”

Elliott will be replaced in the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Hendrick Motorsports has announced that Josh Berry will take his place.

The 27-year-old finished second last weekend at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. He had a disastrous season-opener in the Daytona 500, where he finished 38th.

Berry has made two NASCAR Cup Series starts in 2021. He has 588 Cup Series laps under his belt.

The Tennessee native has five career NASCAR Xfinity Series wins in 64 starts. He had three wins during the 2022 season.
