Black Knights blow out Owls by 28 points

The Army Black Knights defeated the Temple Owls. The Black Knights won 42-14 over the Owls at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The Black Knights have won the last 3 games in this series. But they are now 4-0 to begin their season for just the third time in the last 28 years.

The first time it happened was in 1996. The other time it happened was in 2021.

Army leads the American Athletic Conference with their 4-0 record. The team is 3-0 in conference play.

Temple is 1-4 on the season. At press time, they are currently dead-last in the conference with an 0-2 mark.

On Thursday, it was the first meeting between the two teams in almost a decade. They had last played in 2017.

That’s when Army won 31-28 over the Owls in West Point, New York. The Black Knights also won 28-13 in September 2016 in Philadelphia.

Despite the Black Knights winning the last three games in the series, the series is now tied at 7 all. Temple has not won in the series since September 2013.

Army quarterback Bryson Daily went 2 of 6 for 54 yards.

Daily also led the Black Knights with 24 carries for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Casey Reynolds led the receivers with one reception for 27 yards.

Temple quarterback Evan Simon went 19 of 30 for 224 yards. Simon had two touchdown passes and one interception.

The Black Knights outscored the Owls 14-8 in the second half. Daily scored on a 12-yards rushing touchdown.

Dewayne Coleman also hit Cam Schurr for an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Owls’ lone second half points came when Simon hit Daniel Evert for a 54-yard touchdown pass. Following the score, the Owls went for a two point conversion.

Simon hit Antonio Jones to complete the two-point play.

Army led 28-6 at halftime. Noah Short scored on a 61-yard rushing touchdown.

Daily scored on two first half touchdowns. He first scored on an eight-yard rushing touchdown.

He also scored on a nine-yard rushing touchdown.

Kanye Udoh also added a 28-yard rushing touchdown.

Simon hit Dante Wright for the Owls lone first half points. Wright caught a 29-yard touchdown reception.
