According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey will be sidelined several more weeks. The report says that the earliest that the star back will return to the team is in early November.

McCaffrey has not played this season. And he is currently on the team’s injured reserve with Achilles tendinitis.

Recently, McCaffrey traveled to Germany to meet with a specialist to get treatment for the injury.

The 2023 Offensive Player of the Year missed the majority of training camp with what the team said was a calf sprain. McCaffrey missed the team’s season-opener against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.

Then before Week 2, the 49ers placed McCaffrey on injured reserve. That meant he was going to miss at least an additional four weeks.

At press time, Jordan Mason has received the bulk of the carries with McCaffrey sidelined. He has had 67 carries for 324 yards through the first three games.

Mason has rushed for more than 100 yards in two of their first three games. He had a career-high 147 yards on Monday Night Football against the Jets.

He also had 100 yards against the Minnesota Vikings before having just 77 yards against the Los Angeles Rams.

The 49ers have gone 1-2 so far this season. Besides McCaffrey, the team also had fellow stars Deebo Samuel and George Kittle be sidelined for at least one game.

Following their win over the Jets, the 49ers have dropped two straight games. They suffered a 23-17 loss to the Vikings.

And then a 27-24 loss to the Rams. The 49ers are at home on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
