The Seattle Sounders FC signed midfielder Aaron Long to a contract today. According to MLS policy, teams do not disclose the years or money of the deal.

Long comes to the Sounders FC after being drafted by the Portland Timbers in the second round of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. He was released by the Timbers on July 2nd.

Long is a two-time Big West All-Conference player while playing collegiate soccer at the University of California-Riverside. He made 66 starts in 71 appearances, including a team-high 13 points during the 2012 season.

Long made one start each with Orange County and the Sacramento Republic. He did not score or any assists in any goals during his 228 minutes on the field.

It is not clear if Long will play for the team during their next game. The Sounders FC play next on July 28th at home against the LA Galaxy.

If Long does not play against the Galaxy, he may be used in one of the additional games over the rest of the season.
