According to blacksportsonline.com, former NFL running back Clinton Portis is the latest pro athlete to have financial problems. One has to wonder how did he get in this position.

In their story, it says that Portis has already filed for bankruptcy. But creditors are still trying to get money from him – even though that he made millions before he retired from rushing the ball.

Plus, his landlord, where he lives, is trying to evict him after not paying $6,500 in back rent. He also reportedly owns his baby mama’s over $400K in child support.

This isn’t the alarming about. He reportedly owes $500K to his mother, another $500K to a female reporter and an additional $300K to casinos.

He doesn’t even have enough in his checking account to cover everything. The story says that he has just a $150 in the bank.

Portis – who played nine years in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and the Denver Broncos – made over $43 million in the league. That’s a whole lot of dough for one to blow in a short-period of time.

Most people will barely make a million in their lifetime, depending on their salary. That’s, of course, if you’re working a good job – making like $50,000 per year and not a burger-flipping job.

When he last played in the NFL in 2010, he made $7.6 million. The year prior, he made just $1.2 million.

In 2004 and 2008, he made over $10 million a year. After being traded to the Redskins for Champ Bailey, he made $13.3 million in ’04.

Then, in 2008, he made $10.4 million.
