Diamondbacks take Game 2 of WS, win 9-1 over Rangers

The Arizona Diamondbacks have claimed Game 2 of the World Series. The Diamondbacks won 9-1 over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

With the Diamondbacks winning this game, the series is now tied at 1-1. The Rangers won the first game of the series.

The momentum is with the Diamondbacks as they head to Chase Field for a three-game set that begins on Monday night. The series will return for Game 6 and Game 7 in Texas if necessary.

The Diamondbacks increased their lead to 9-1 in the ninth inning when Emmanuel Rivera singled to left field. Jace Peterson and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. scored on the play.

In the eighth inning, soon-to-be Rookie of the Year winner Corbin Carroll singled to right field. Geraldo Perdomo scored for the 7-1 lead.

Ketel Marte also singled in the inning. Tommy Pham and Rivera scored on the play for a 6-1 lead.

The seventh inning saw that the Diamondbacks pushed their lead to 4-1. Carroll singled to left field and scored Evan Longoria.

When Longoria was up to bat, he singled to left field. Alek Thomas scored on the play for a 3-1 lead.

The Rangers’ lone run came in the fifth inning. That’s when Mitch Garver hit a home run to left field.

Gurriel Jr. singled to left field in the fourth inning. Pham scored to make it 2-1.

Gabriel Moreno hit a home run to center field in the fourth. This gave the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead.

Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly received the win in the game. He went seven innings and allowed one earned run on three hits.

Rangers pitcher Jordan Montgomery received the loss. He went six innings and allowed four earned runs on nine hits.
