Murder Nova wins second Invitational over Disco Dean

Murder Nova won his second career Invitational on Saturday. He snapped Giuseppe Gentile’s two-race win streak. 

Shawn Ellington defeated “Disco” Dean Karns in the final round at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. According to Stat Guy, Ellington improved to 19-4 on the season with his final-round win. Disco Dean fell to 10-11 on the season.

“We took the W home tonight at Beech Bend Raceway Park,” Murder Nova said in a Facebook post.”

Murder Nova won the second race of the season. He defeated Justin Swanstrom in the non-points final round at Virginia Motorsports Park in North Dinwiddie, Virginia.

Ellington is one of two drivers to win the Invitational twice this season. Gentile had won back-to-back weekends. 

Gentile won the inaugural Flying Horse Drag Strip Invitational over Ryan Martin. The following weekend, he defeated Swanstrom in the final round at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.

This was Ellington’s second final round of the season. He won both of them.

Gentile; however, is 2-1 in final rounds. He lost to Martin in the non-points race at New England Dragway & Motorsports Park in Epping, New Hampshire.

Swanstrom and Jim Howe also have Invitational wins this season. In the season’s first points race, Swanstrom defeated Lizzy Musi in the final round at Empire Dragway in Leicester, New York. 

Howe defeated Martin in the final round at Maple Grove Raceway in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.

During the Flying H race, Ellington picked up his only 2nd Chance bracket win of the season. He defeated Jerry Bird in the final round.
