Nussmeier throws 3 TDs in Tigers’ Kinder’s Texas Bowl win

The LSU Tigers defeated the Baylor Bears on New Year’s Eve. The Tigers won 44-31 over the Bears in the Kinder’s Texas Bowl at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 9-4. The loss dropped the Bears to 8-5.

The Tigers lead the all-time series 9-3. This was the first meeting between the two teams since the 1985 college football season when the Bears won 21-7 over the Tigers at the Liberty Bowl on December 27th, 1985 in Memphis, Tennessee.

LSU had not won in the series since 1970 when they won 31-10 on October 3rd, 1970.

Tigers quarterback Garrett Nussmeier went 24 of 34 for 304 yards. He also had three touchdown passes.

Caden Durham had 13 carries for 60 yards. Chris Hilton Jr. had four receptions for 113 yards and one touchdown.

Bears quarterback Sawyer Robertson went 30 of 51 for 445 yards. He had two touchdown passes.

Dawson Pendergrass had 21 carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Josh Cameron had eight receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown.

The Bears outscored the Tigers 14-10 in the second half. Robertson hit Ashtyn Hawkins for a four-yard touchdown reception.

Pendergrass scored on a three-yard rushing touchdown.

Tigers’ Josh Williams scored on a four-yard rushing touchdown. Damian Ramos made a 43-yard field goal.

The Tigers led 34-17 in the first half. Nussmeier hit Trey’Dez Green for a 10-yard touchdown reception.

Robertson was intercepted by Davhon Keys, who then returned it for a 41-yard interception returned for a 41-yard touchdown.

Nussmeier hit Green for a one-yard touchdown reception. Nussmeier also hit Chris Hilton Jr. for a 41-yard touchdown reception.

Zavion Thomas scored on a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

Bears’ Pendergrass scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. Robertson hit Cameron for a 21-yard touchdown reception.

Isaiah Hankins also made a 23-yard field goal.
