The Memphis Grizzlies have assigned forward Alexander Johnson to their NBA D-League affiliate, Arkansas RimRockers. Johnson is the 21st player to be assigned to a D-League affiliate this season.

Since the 2005-06 season, 26 NBA teams have designated more than 50 players to D-League affiliates.

Johnson was the 45th overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. He averaged 5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game in 44 contests.

On Dec. 26. against the Washington Bullets, he had a career-high 23 points. He also had his third double-double of the season.

He also had a career-high 10 rebounds on Feb. 7 against the Dallas Mavericks.

Johnson, a rookie, is the third Grizzlies player to be assigned to the D-League. However, he’s the first player so far this season.

Lawrence Roberts and Anthony Roberson were assigned to the D-League team last season.
