One prominent name has come up with Jim Tressel out at Ohio State. Urban Meyer, a current ESPN college football analyst, has come up as a likely candidate to replace Luke Fickell after the 2011 season.

Supposedly, Meyer and Ohio State talked 3 months ago. It is not clear what they were talking about — though one has to believe it’s about their head coaching job.

Meyer resigned as the University of Florida head coach in December. Meyer reportedly resigned due to health problems.

Will Muschamp replaced Meyer at Florida on the night of the Heisman Trophy ceremony on Dec. 10th. Meyer won two National Championships at Florida.

He also recruited arguably the greatest college football ever in Tim Tebow. Meyer coached for 6-years at Florida.

He was with the Gators from 2005 through 2010. Prior to arriving in Gainesville, Fla., he was the Utah Utes head coach for two seasons in 2003 and 2004.

He was the Bowling Green Falcons head coach in 2001 and 2002. He was 65-15 with the Gators, 22-2 with the Utes, and 17-6 with the Falcons, including 7-1 in Bowl Games.

His only loss was 41-35 to the Michigan Wolverines in the 2008 Capital One Bowl. He served as an assistant coach at Ohio State (1986-87), Illinois State (1988-89), Colorado State (1990-95), and Notre Dame (1996-00).
