Frankie Edgar is expected to be given a shot at the Jose Aldo vs. Connor McGregor Main Event winner tonight. Edgar said he’ll be there in attendance.

“I’ll be there scouting,” he said when being asked who he wanted to fight next.

Edgar hasn’t lost a fight since he lost to Aldo at UFC 156 in February 2013. He’s been on a five-fight win streak since.

The Toms River, New Jersey native has never faced McGregor. At this time, McGregor is the favorite to win over Aldo, even though Aldo hasn’t lost in nearly a decade.

“Nothing is set in stone, but I think it’s going in the right direction,” Edgar said of the potential Aldo or McGregor fight.

The fight that he lost to Aldo went the distance, as Aldo won by a unanimous decision.

Only two of Edgar’s fights have gone the distance since. On Friday night, he pulled a stunning knockout over Chad Mendes in the first round to set up the main event potential fight at the UFC 22 Finale at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan.

The first round fight was the first fight to go to the first round in his career since his win over Mark Bocek in July 2007, which he won by TKO (punches).

It was also his second knockout win of his career, as he also had a knockout win over Gray Maynard at UFC 136 – Edgar vs. Maynard 3 on Oct. 8th, 2011.
