A Virginia Tech athlete has been charged with first-degree murder and abduction in the death of 13-year-old Nicole Madison Lovell. She had previously been missing since Wednesday and the authorities found her body on Saturday night.

18-year-old David Eisenhauer, a former high school track star, is the one charged with her disappearance. He was a freshman at Virginia Tech before being arrested on Saturday.

His profile has been removed from the athlete website as track & field season was set to begin soon. Lovell’s body was found in North Carolina.

When Eisenhauer was arrested on Saturday, he was first charged with felony abduction. Once her body was found — whether he told them where to locate her or not — the authorities added a murder charge.

This afternoon, the authorities have charged another Virginia Tech student — 19-year-old Natalie Marie Keepers — with one count of improper disposal of a body and another count of accessory after the fact as she’s connected to the case.

Eisenhauer does not have a bond. He was an engineering student at the school.

Lovell, who was a liver transplant patient, was missing since Wednesday morning. Her uncle told the Roanoke Times that “the family believed the girl climbed out of her window during the night.”

The Authorities have released very information in this case. They have also declined to mention how the girl knew Eisenhauer.

“This was a huge investigation that involved, unfortunately, taking apart the life of a 13-year-old and figuring out where she was and who she had come in contact with,” Blacksburg, Va., police chief Anthony Wilson said at a news conference. “I’m not going to go into all the specific pieces of it, but when the pieces did come together, Mr. Eisenhauer was identified.”

The Authorities did not say whether Eisenhauer confessed to them. Nor did they say whether he led them to where she would be located.

The standout runner, Eisenhauer, won the Maryland 3A outdoor state championship in the 3,200-meter race in 2014. He also won the indoor 1,600 and 3,200 championships last year.

He was also second in the state of Maryland for the past two years while at Wilde Lake High School.

Eisenhauer has been placed on immediate interim suspension. However, with the severity of these charges against him, he won’t be going to college again for a while — if at all ever again depending on his sentence, which could be life.
