Rafael dos Anjos had to pull out of his mega-fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 196 in Las Vegas. dos Anjos has suffered a broken foot, which caused him to miss the big fight on March 5th.

President Dana White had a lot of potential opponents back out, including Frankie Edgar. But Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone – who just fought on Sunday night at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. – and Anthony Pettis said that they would fight the Irishman.

Instead, McGregor will fight Nate Diaz in the main event of the card in less than two weeks, according to BJPenn.com. They say their sources say the fight will happen on the March 5th card.

They also say that the fight class for the fight hasn’t been announced. If the dos Anjos and McGregor fight had happened, McGregor would have had to step up to a new weight class – as he looked to hold two weight division belts at one time.

McGregor hasn’t fought since December 12th when he defeated Jose Aldo in the first round of their big fight. The always talkative McGregor said that he was going to defeat Aldo and did it quite easily for his first loss in a decade.

McGregor and Diaz have been going at it for quite some time, even back in Dec. Edgar was scheduled to have the next fight with him at featherweight, but nobody knows when that’ll be.

Diaz is 18-10 and has been fighting in the 155-pound class. The Cesar Gracie Fight Team has been fighting in Lightweight and last fought against Michael Johnson on December 19th.

McGregor is 19-2 all-time, and he’s been fighting in the 145-pound, featherweight class. The SBG Ireland Association fighter dispatched Jose Aldo just 13 seconds into the fight.
