Former MLB manager Tony La Russa has left the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. He has been with the franchise since 2015.
La Russa, a Hall of Fame manager, spent this past season as their chief baseball analyst. He worked with the team’s new regime that’s led by general manager Mike Hazen and manager Torey Lovullo.
Prior to their arrival, he was their chief baseball offer for two seasons in 2015 and 2016.

La Russa said the job was “more demanding than I realized.” The Diamondbacks reached the playoffs this season, before being eliminated by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He said the team has a great future ahead. Managing General Partner Ken Kendrick said that La Russa helped the team’s success.
The 73-year-old was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014. He was previously the manager of the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
He also played for the Kansas City/Oakland Athletics, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago Cubs in his playing career. He also served as a coach with the White Sox in 1978.
La Russa was a three-time World Series champion. He won in 1989 with the Athletics and twice with the Cardinals.

His No. 10 is retired by the Cardinals. He’s also in the Cardinals Hall of Fame.
