Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the world’s soccer’s best players, will have a new team. He has been sold by Real Madrid to Juventus. Real Madrid made the deal official on Tuesday.
According to Real Madrid’s statement on their website, the move was made with the cooperation of Ronaldo. It was his wish to make the move.
The Portuguese forward will be joining the Italian team for a €100m (£88.3m) transfer fee. His agent, Jorge Mendes, met with Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli on Tuesday in Greece to discuss the deal.

He will receive a four-year deal with the team with around €30m salary. In total, with salary and taxes, it will cost Juventus a total of €340m (€100m transfer fee plus €240m in salary and taxes).
“I only have feelings of enormous gratitude for this club and for this city,” Ronaldo wrote in an open letter to Real Madrid fans. “I have had nine absolutely wonderful years at the club.
“Real Madrid has conquered my heart, and that of my family, and that is why more than ever I want to say thank you: thank you to the club, the president, the directors, my colleagues, all the staff, doctors, physios and incredible people that make everything work.”
The 33-year-old has been a member of Real Madrid since 2009. He had 292 appearances with the team, including 311 goals.

Prior to joining Real Madrid, he played for Manchester United. There, where he played from 2003 through 2009, he had 196 appearances and 84 goals.
Ronaldo has also played for Sporting CP and Sporting CP B in his career. From 2002 to 2003, he made 27 appearances with just three goals.
