Yellow Jacket dominate Hokies on ground, as they win big

By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets dominated the Virginia Tech Hokies on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets won 49-28 over the Hokies at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Yellow Jackets improved to 4-4 even without starter TaQuon Marshall.Tobias Oliver, backup quarterback, and the rest of the team had 465 yards all on the ground. Georgia Tech is now 2-3 in conference play. They have now won three out of their last four games. The Atlanta, Georgia based team is presently fifth in the conference. The Hokies fell to 4-3 on the season. This was their first conference loss on the season. Virginia and Virginia Tech are now 3-1 in the Coastal Division within the ACC. However, Virginia is leading with a better record at 5-2. Since a week 2 win, the Hokies have traded W-L, W-L, and W-L in the past six games. Yellow Jackets backup quarterback Tobias Oliver went 0 for 1. He; however, had 40 carries for 215 yards and three touchdowns. Jordan Mason also had 12 carries for 82 yards and three touchdowns. Jerry Howard had 12 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown. Christian Malloy had four carries for 27 yards. James Graham had two carries for 25 yards. Hokies quarterback Ryan Willis went 15 of 22 for 201 yards. He also had two touchdowns. Steven Peoples had six carries for 51 yards. Jalen Holston had five carries for 29 yards and a touchdown. Willis had eight carries for 22 yards and a touchdown. Damon Hazelton had six receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. Tre Turner had two receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown. Dalton Keene had three receptions for 27 yards. Georgia Tech scored three touchdowns in the second half. Oliver scored on an 11-yard rushing touchdown. Mason also scored on a 14-yard rushing touchdown. Mason added another touchdown, a one-yard rushing touchdown, in the fourth quarter. Virginia Tech had seven points in the second half. Holston scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. The Yellow Jackets had a 28-21 lead at halftime. Howard scored on an eight-yard rushing touchdown. Oliver also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. Mason also had a five-yard rushing touchdown. Oliver added a second touchdown with a five-yard rushing touchdown. Hokies’ Willis hit Turner for a 46-yard touchdown reception. Willis hit Hazelton for a 41-yard touchdown reception. Willis also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.
