Horned Frogs’ Patterson responds to retirement rumors

The TCU Horned Frogs football program is having a down season this season. They are presently 5-6 in 2018.

The Horned Frogs will need to win on Saturday to become bowl-eligible. TCU faces the Oklahoma State Cowboys in what could be the season finale.

The Horned Frogs host the 6-5 Cowboys on Saturday at 8 pm EST. The game will air on FOX from Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.

TCU comes into the game on a one-game win streak, as they defeated the Baylor Bears, 16-9, in their last game. The Horned Frogs, though, have lost four of their last six games.

Patterson said on Monday that he would like to coach for a long time. He also said he enjoys the game.

“Hopefully Saturday I look like I still enjoy the game. If I ever think I get to the point where I hurt the program, they won’t have to tell me,” Patterson shared, according to Sports Day.

Patterson has been the permanent TCU head coach since the 2001 season. He served as the interim head coach for the Mobile Alabama Bowl during the 2000 season.

In his debut, the team lost 28-13 loss to the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. Former Horned Frogs great LaDainian Tomlinson was named the MVP of the December 20th, 2000 game.

The 5-6 record is his worst season since the 2013 season when the team went 4-8. He is 165-63 in 228 games as the Horned Frogs head coach.
