Crawford wins by TKO over Khan after controversial low blow

Terence “Bud” Crawford defeated Amir Khan in the sixth round of the main event of the Top Rank Boxing card on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Crawford won by a TKO.

The fight was called after a controversial low blow. Crawford said it wasn’t a low blow, but Khan’s side said it was.

The replay showed that it was clearly low. Khan said he couldn’t continue after the low blow so his side called off the fight.

Crawford retains his WBO welterweight title. This is his 13th title defense with 10 knockouts.

“The fight I want next is Errol Spence,” Crawford said. “Whenever he is ready he can come and get it.”

The Omaha, Nebraska native improved to 35-0 in his boxing career. He received his 26th knockout.

This is Crawford’s third straight TKO win. He also defeated José Benavidez Jr. and Jeff Horn by TKO.

Crawford had one knockdown in the first round against Khan. The Brit also took a beating in the bout.

The 32-year-old Khan fell to 33-5 in his boxing career. The Bolton, Lancashire, United Kingdom native has been knocked out four times.

This loss snapped his two-win fight streak. He defeated Samuel Vargas and Phil Lo Greco in England.

His last two fights in the United States were losses. He also was defeated by Canelo Álvarez by KO on May 7, 2015, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
