Bulldogs defeat Bears in 2020 Sugar Bowl

The (5) Georgia Bulldogs were flat in last year’s Sugar Bowl. However, with the new year, the team had another opportunity to performance at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Bulldogs defeated the (7) Baylor Bears, 26-14, on Wednesday night.

Head coach Kirby Smart admitted to it in his post-game interview with ESPN. One year ago, then-No. 6 Georgia was upset 28-21 by then-No. 14 Texas Longhorns.

With the win, Georgia improved to 5-6 all-time in their 11 Sugar Bowl appearances. Baylor fell to 1-1 all-time in their two appearances.

The Bulldogs improved to a 12-2 record. The Bears dropped to 11-3 on the season.

This was Baylor’s first loss on the season to an opponent not named the Oklahoma Sooners.

Bulldogs quarterback Jake Fromm went 20 of 30 for 250 yards. He had two touchdown passes.

Zamir White had 18 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown. George Pickens had 12 receptions for 175 yards and a touchdown.

Bears quarterback Charlie Brewer went 24 of 41 for 211 yards. He also had one touchdown pass and one interception.

After Brewer left the game due to an injury, Jacob Zeno went 4 of 9 for 23 yards. He also threw an interception.

Trestan Ebner had five carries for 23 yards. Denzel Mims had five receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Baylor outscored the Georgia 14-7 in the second half. Brewer scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown. Brewer hit Mims for a 12-yard touchdown reception.

Georgia’s White scored on a 13-yard rushing touchdown.

The Bulldogs led 19-0 at halftime. Fromm hit Matt Landers for a 16-yard touchdown reception. Following this touchdown, the two-point conversion failed.

Fromm hit Pickens for a 27-yard touchdown reception. Rodrigo Blankenship also made two field goals.
