Patterson helped guide the Buffalo Bulls to a 70-41 win over the Kent State Golden Flashes at UB Stadium in Buffalo, New York. The running back tied Howard Griffith’s mark on Saturday. Griffith also had eight rushing touchdowns in a game in 1990 for the Illinois Fighting Illini. In addition, Patterson had 710 rushing yards in a two-game span. He had 409 rushing yards against the Golden Flashes. The 710 rushing yards are the most in a two-game span by a player in major college football history, according to ESPN’s Stats & Information. Patterson could have aded to the record, or potentially even scored a ninth touchdown. However, Bulls head coach Lance Leipold took him out. Bulls quarterback Kyle Vantrease went 11 of 21 for 148 yards. Patterson had 36 carries for 409 yards and the aforementioned eight touchdowns. Jovany Ruiz had four receptions for 49 yards. The most rushing yards in a game by a player was Samaje Perine, who had 427 on November 22nd, 2014 in a 44-7 win over the Kansas Jayhawks. Golden Flashes quarterback Dustin Crum went 22 of 32 for 343 yards. He had three touchdown passes and one interception. Crum had 13 carries for 76 yards and a touchdown. Isaiah McKoy had five receptions for 137 yards and one touchdown. Patterson had the aforementioned eight rushing touchdowns for the Bulls. Kevin Marks Jr. also had two rushing touchdowns. Crum and Xavier Williams combined for two rushing touchdowns for the Golden Flashes. McKoy, Keshunn Abram, and Kris Leach caught touchdown receptions. Matthew Trickett also made two field goals.
