The Illinois Fighting Illini defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Thursday night. The Fighting Illini won 30-22 over the Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois.
With the win, the Fighting Illini improved to 1-0 on the season. With the loss, the Cornhuskers fell to 0-1.

Fighting Illini quarterback Artur Sitkowski went 12 of 15 for 124 yards. He had two touchdown passes.
Mike Epstein led the team with 16 carries for 75 yards and one touchdown. Isaiah Williams had six receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown reception.
Cornhuskers quarterback Adrian Martinez went 16 of 32 for 232 yards. He had one touchdown pass.
Martinez led the backs with 17 carries for 111 yards and one touchdown. Oliver Martin had six receptions for 103 yards and one touchdown.
Illinois outscored Nebraska 14-13 in the second half. Sitkowski hit Luke Ford for a two-yard touchdown reception.
Sitkowski also hit Williams for a one-yard touchdown reception.
Martinez scored on a 75-yard rushing touchdown. He also connected with Martin for a four-yard touchdown reception.
The Fighting Illini led 16-9 at halftime. Epstein scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.
Calvin Hart Jr. also scored on a 41-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Illinois also had a safety.
Markese Stepp scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown for the Cornhuskers. Connor Culp also made a field goal.
