The No. 6 Baylor Bears have won the 2021 Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament. They defeated the Michigan State Spartans 75-58 at Imperial Arena at Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas.
With the win, the Bears improved to 7-0 on the season. The Spartans fell to 5-2 overall.
This is Baylor’s second Battle 4 Atlantis tournament championship. They also won the 2016 tournament championship, as well.
In the 2016 championship game, the Bears defeated the Louisville Cardinals, 66-63.
Baylor joins the Villanova Wildcats as the only two teams, who have won the tournaments twice. The Wildcats won their championships in 2013 and 2017.
James Akinjo led the Bears with 15 points. He also had one rebound, five assists, and three steals.
Akinjo was one of four Baylor players, who scored in double figures. Kendall Brown and Adam Flagler contributed 11 points.
Jonathan Tchamwa-Tchatchoua also had 11 points.
The Bears had 27 bench points. Tchamwa-Tchatchoua led the reserves with the aforementioned 11 points.
Gabe Brown led the Spartans with 13 points. He also had five rebounds, and two assists.
Brown was one of two Michigan State players, who scored in double digits. Jaden Akins contributed 12 points.
