The San Francisco Giants released outfielder Alex Dickerson on Friday. He spent parts of the three seasons with the team.

He was previously designated for assignment by the team. The Giants made the move in order to make room for pitcher Anthony DeSclafani.

DeSclafani signed a three-year contract with the Giants on Tuesday.

This past season, Dickerson appeared in a career-high 111 games. It was the first time that he appeared in 100 or more games in his career.

He had a .304 batting average with 13 home runs and 38 RBIs in the aforementioned 111 games. He also had 10 doubles and two triples.

The 13 home runs were the most in his career. His previous high was 10 home runs, which happened twice during the 2016 season with the San Diego Padres and during the 2020 season with the Giants.

The 31-year-old — who will be 32 during the upcoming season — is expected to be a role player for whichever team he signs with. He plays left field and also serves as a pinch hitter.

In his five-year career, he has appeared in 326 games. He has a .260 batting average with 39 home runs and 130 RBIs in 869 at-bats.

Baseball-Reference projects that Dickerson will have a .249 batting average in 2022. He will have 16 home runs and 51 RBIs for whichever team he plays for next.
