Former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette has been arrested on Friday, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, the report said.

He is facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, carrying or concealing a gun without a permit. He’s also facing possession of marijuana or cannabis and possession of a class one or two-level controlled substance.

The authorities were called to the Park MGM on Friday at 5:45 pm local time, the report said. In addition to Arnette’s arrest, Markell Surrell was also arrested at the scene following the call.

He’s facing carrying or concealing a weapon without a permit. Both men are expected to be in court on Sunday. Arnette was a 2020 first-round draft pick, who was released by the team in November.

He was released following a viral video, where he threatened to shoot and kill someone with a gun.

He had been signed by the Kansas City Chiefs to a futures contract. However, with this arrest, it would not be surprising if the team cuts ties with him.

While another team may be waiting in the wings to take a flyer on Arnette, they’re going to have to understand that he has not changed. He has a troubling past.

We have seen it so many times in sports, where teams overlook the players’ troubling past as long as they can produce on the field, as long as they did not beat a woman. The Chiefs overlooked Tyreek Hill’s allegations with a woman.

Hill was suspended and investigated by the team. Eventually, he became a superstar wide receiver.

Other players, who have been arrested for other crimes, have not been so lucky following their arrests for a variety of charges. Many of these players, including Ray Rice, were not given another opportunity.
