The accident involved the No. 17 ARCA racing team. The team was on its way to Arizona to take part in Friday night’s ARCA Menards Series event at Phoenix Raceway.

“DGS and driver Taylor Gray’s participation in Friday’s event will be determined at a later time,” the team said in a statement.

Pockrass received a preliminary report following the 5:25 EST accident on I-20. The report said that the DGR hauler failed to control its speed behind a Honda Passport that was towing a small box trailer.

The two collided. The police found that the impact caused the Honda Passport to roll on its side into the center median.

The trailer vaulted over the concrete barrier and into the eastbound lane, police said.

The DGR hauler hit the center median and struck the concrete barrier. It caught fire and the trailer flipped on its side in the center median.
