“This one hurts,” Lagana Racing said in a Facebook post. “We lost a great one today. Steve, known to many as ‘Stevarita’ was one of a kind. He was family. Steve went to every single race that our race was at the last 18 years. We called him the team mixologist. He fueled the car and always hydrated the crew with endless margaritas. If you tried his infamous ‘Stevarita drinks,’ you’d be down for the count after 1.

“The stories and memories we have made could write a book. He would have you laughing for hours with his one liners. We will miss him more than words could ever amount to. Things will never be the same without you – fly high Stevarita. Now you can enjoy endless tea parties up there while you watch down on us all. We love you so much. See you again one day.”

We do not known when the Lagana Racing Top Fuel Dragster team will return to the track. When they do; however, they will be doing so without Stevarita being by their side.

What we do know is that there will be some type of tribute on the dragster to him when the car does hit a track in the future. That’s how drag racers pay respect to one of their own.
