Five Jim Read Racing Top Fuel members injured in Sydney

There was a starting line incident at the Nitro Champs in Sydney, Australia featuring the Jim Read Racing team. Five members of the team were injured.

Top Fuel Australia said in a Facebook post that IHRA Australia is investigating the incident.

“Given that, Top Fuel won’t make any further comment at this time except to say that our thoughts are with the team members involved and that they’re all in good hands. Please don’t use this post to speculate about what happened. Rather, let’s send love and care to JRR. Just like the Dragway crowd lighting their phones in this picture.”

We have very little information on this incident at this time. Jim Read Racing did release a statement about the incident with a few more details.

“Thank you for your messages of concern for everyone that was around the race car on the starting line,” the team said in a Facebook post. “Our crew has been checked by [the] medical staff. Four crew members have been released from [the] hospital and a fifth crew member needs further treatment on his hand and should make a full recovery.

“Thank you to everyone who helped us in this unforeseen situation. We sincerely appreciate it.”
