According to the video of the accident, Chapman’s pass began like any other he has previously made. However, shortly after the Christmas tree, he began to have to peddle it.

He gets back on the gas and then begins to lose control of the Funny Car. Chapman begins to go sideways.

His Funny Car crashes into the wall and then flips on its side as a huge fireball can be seen. The fireball lasts for several seconds before it disappears.

At the 1:42 second mark in the clip, it looks like the Funny Car may have been upside down. The car then slides on its side down the track.

As the Funny Car goes under the Santa Pod sign, the car eventually comes to a stop. Track officials then rush to Chapman’s aid.

At 2:34 in the video, ambulances begin to go to Chapman. He was able to walk away from the accident.

While he was able to walk away from the horrible crash, we do not know at this time if he was transported to a nearby hospital to be evaluated for any potential injuries.
