Street Outlaws No Prep Kings star Jerry Bird has had a bit of bad luck lately. He was knocked out in the first round today.

He was defeated in the first round of the Invitational by James “Birdman” Finney at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota. This was Bird’s first elimination in the first round this season.

In the past three events, Bird has not made it out of the second round. He also lost in the second round at Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.

The New Orleans-based driver went to two final rounds in the first two points races. He also went to the semifinals at New England Dragway before losing to teammate Kye Kelley.

Birdman — who is the series 1 champion — has gone to the second round for the second straight race. His win over “Disco Dean” Karns at Beech Bend was because the Ohio-based driver was not able to make the call.

Karns had a backfire in his new Cadillac. This hurt his chances to compete in the Invitational.

Birdman lost in the second round in Bowling Green to former teammate Kayla Morton. She defected with several other drivers to join The South with leader Cody Baker.

Before Beech Bend, Birdman could not get out of the first round. He lost twice to Mike Bowman and once to Adam Jennings.
