Justin Swanstrom has suffered through a lot in the past month. Maybe Friday night is a turn in the right direction.
The Street Outlaws No Prep Kings star defeated Ryan Martin at Brainerd International Raceway in Brainerd, Minnesota. This was in the final round of the Great 8 completion.

“Man I’m just happy to be here!,” Swanstrom said after getting the win. “Thanks, everyone for the support!!! Love y’all! #swangang”
With the win, the Florida native secured 20 points towards his Invitational points total. He currently has 150 points.
He is now tied with “Daddy Dave” in the fifth spot with the aforementioned 150 points. With the 10 additional points, Martin is the points leader with 290.
Swanstrom is just the second non-405 driver to win a Great 8 competition this season. Lizzy Musi is the other driver to win this special competition over her fiancée Kye Kelley.
Martin has two wins in the Great 8. “Daddy Dave” also has two Great 8 wins, as well.
Swanstrom has had to overcome an accident, a fire, an intake manifold backfire, and a driveshaft issue. The driveshaft issue caused a hole in his roof and an injury to his leg.
