Iowa basketball recruit Ava Jones, family struck by car in Louisville

Iowa Hawkeyes basketball recruit Ava Jones was injured on Tuesday night. Her parents were also injured in the incident.

According to Wave 3, Michael Steele Empson Hurley hit the three hits and one child in downtown Louisville. The incident happened around 8 pm.

Jones had recently made her commitment to Iowa. And she was in Louisville to participate in a basketball tournament.

She was in Louisville to play in the Run 4 Roses youth basketball tournament, according to the report. The tournament runs through Friday.

He report says that Jones’ parents are in critical condition. Jones herself is in serious but critical condition. Her brother has been treated with minor injuries.

According to KWCH12, the family was walking on a sidewalk when they were struck.

Hurley claimed to the officers that arrested him that he was “too tired to make the turn.” He also told the police that he was on hydrocodone.

He is charged with four counts of assault, according to Wave3. He is also facing misdemeanor charges for operating a motor vehicle under the influence and not having a drivers license in his possession.
