NAPA Auto Parts Funny Car driver Ron Capps is the No. 1 qualifier on Sunday. He will lead the field on Monday at the Dodge Power Brokers U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Brownsburg, Indiana.
Capps went 3.864 at 333.58 mph to claim the top spot. This is his fifth No. 1 qualifier of the season.
“We’ve got a great race car right now,” Capps said. “Last year stung and that was the run of the year in Funny Car. We’ll take some time to enjoy this No. 1 and this (callout) win, and we’ll get ready for tomorrow.”
Capps will face Dale Creasy Jr. in the first round of eliminations. The nitro session will begin at 10 am local time on Monday.
The California native is looking for his first U.S. Nationals win in his career.
