Chester, Pa. — One goal. That’s all that was needed.

This is the second straight season that the Union have played in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Union will host the Eastern Conference Final on October 30th at 3 pm.

They will know their opponent on Sunday. In the other Eastern Conference Semifinal, New York City FC will travel to CF Montreal for a 1 pm kickoff at Stade Saputo.

If the Union face NYCFC, it would be the second straight year that the two teams played in the Eastern Conference Finals. NYCFC won the December 4th meeting at Subaru Park 2-1.

Leon Flach scored the game-winning goal in the 59th minute. In the FC Cincinnati box, Mikael Uhre received the ball from Dániel Gazdag.

Uhre then kicked the ball to Flach, who buried the ball in the back of the net with a strong right-foot kick past the diving Roman Celentano.

“What a game,” Flach said after the game. “Sorry I could finally score and help the team with scoring goals. What a goal. See you in the next round.”

This was Flach’s first goal of his MLS playoff career. It was just his fifth shot on goal of the season and his first goal of the season.

Both of Flach’s goals with the Union have come in October. His other goal came on October 3rd, 2021, in a 3-0 win against the Columbus Crew.
