The No. 5 Clemson Tigers had to make a quarterback change to stay in the game. Starting quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei was benched.

With Uiagalelei on the sidelines, Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney turned to true freshman Cade Klubnick. He was the top quarterback prospect in the 2022 recruiting class.

Uiagaleiei has struggled rhd past few games. In the last four games, he has not thrown for more than 220 yards in a game.

He has combined for 341 in his last two games. Uiagalelei had 138 yards before bending benched.

In a win against the Florida State Seminoles next weekend, he had 203 yards.

His best performance of the season came in Week 4 against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He had a season-high 371 passing yards in a double overtime win.

Depending on Klubnik’s performance over the rest of the game, Uiagalelei could see himself on the bench the rest of the season. He could enter the transfer portal if he wants to be a starter elsewhere.
