Former MMA fighter Anthony “Rumble” Johnson has passed away. He was 38.
An official cause of death has not been determined yet. However, according to TMZ Sports, he was dealing with an illness before his passing.

“Rest Easy my brother,” former UFC Champion Daniel Cormier said on Twitter. “For a guy who struck fear in so many people’s hearts, Anthony Johnson was a caring person. From random text to check-ins during loss. What a person he was, Rumble will be missed. Sometimes life doesn’t seem fair. Horrible news #RIP #Rumblesquad @Anthony_Rumble”
He was signed to Bellator. After signing with Bellator, he had just one fight with the promotion.
“Rumble” previously fought in the UFC. He was best remembered for his prolific knockout power.
He was 23-6 in his MMA career. His last bought came in a knockout win on May 7th, 2021, over José Augusto Azevedo Barros.
He had not fought after the Barros fight due to the illness that he had been battling.
“Really wish I could go into detail about how much ill I truly am,” Johnson said in a September 2021 Instagram post. “Just know I need as many prayers as I can get and I’ll see you in 2022 God willing. Never been this afraid of anything in my life but I’ve remained strong with the support of friends and family.”
He said that this was not related to COVID-19.
