The incident happened at a parking garage at 10:30 pm. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

Due to the active investigation, the police have not revealed what led to the shooting. Jones has been charged with three second-degree murder charges.

The police said that Jones was previously reported to the school’s student threat assessment. Someone had reported that he had a gun.

Jones was listed on the 2018 Virginia Cavaliers football team. However, he did not play in any games.

As information continues to come out, we have learned that Virginia wide receivers Devin Chandler and Lavel Davis were killed in the incident. Linebacker and defensive end D’Sean Perry was also shot.

Two other victims were shot. It is not clear whether they are football players or not as that information has not been released.

University of Virginia President Jim Ryan said that one student is in good condition. The other is in critical condition.

Jones may receive additional charges for the two other victims.

“This is a message any leader hopes never to have to send, and I am devastated that this violence has visited the University of Virginia,” Ryan said. “I am holding the victims, their families, and all members of the University of Virginia community in my heart today.”
