According to Local10, a high school coach has been arrested for having a sexual relationship with a minor. The 28-year-old football assistant has been arrested for underage sex.
He was caught after a mother discovered explicit texts on her daughter’s phone. Maquedius Dashad Baine was arrested on November 12th.
The investigation found that he had an alleged relationship with the minor. When the mother found the texts, she confronted the daughter.
That’s when the girl revealed that she was having a relationship with Baine. The South Broward High School coach was arrested after the Hollywood Special Victims Unit investigated the claim.
The minor and the coach met several times between November 5th and November 11th to have sex.
At this time, Baine is facing eight counts of sexual battery. He is also facing one count of an authority figure soliciting or engaging in sexual conduct with a minor.
He is also facing one count of traveling to “meet a minor to seduce, solicit, lure, entice, or engage in unlawful sexual conduct with a child.”
At the time of publication, it is not clear on how much jail time Baine could be facing. South Broward High School has not commented at this time regarding his employment status.
