The New York Jets need to bench quarterback Zach Wilson. Sure, you have a chance of losing him with the benching.

Head coach Robert Saleh needs to start either Mike White or Joe Flacco. Both quarterbacks have started for the Jets.

Wilson’s statistics are nearly identical to former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell in their first career 20 games. Russell was a bust, who lasted just three seasons in the league.

The only difference between the players were their win-loss record. Wilson is 8-12 as a starter.

Russell was 6-14 with the Oakland Raiders.

Wilson — who was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft — has had 13 touchdown passes and 16 interceptions. He also has a 70.7 passer rating.

He has a 55.6 completion percentage. Wilson has a 6.3 yards per attempt.

But his statistics took a huge hit on Sunday against the New England Patriots. Wilson’s offense was lackluster at best.

The team averaged 2.5 inches per play. The Jets had 103 total yards in the game.

Wilson had 77 passing yards in the game.

Saleh said this week that he is looking at all options at quarterback. If he continues with Wilson, he’s going to risk losing his locker room.

Russell had 15 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. He had a 70.6 passer rating.

He had a 52.1 completion percentage. Russell also averaged 6.2 yards per attempt.
