Hoy Park has been traded to the Boston Red Sox. In exchange, the Pittsburgh Pirates received minor league left-handed pitcher Inmer Lobo.
Park was recently designated for assignment by the Pirates. This came after the team claimed Lewin Díaz off of waivers from the Miami Marlins.

The 26-year-old appeared in 23 games with the Pirates in 2022. He had a .216 batting average with two home runs and six RBIs in 60 plate appearances.
If he makes the Red Sox, he is expected to be a reserve player for them. Their bench presently also includes Connor Wong, Bobby Dalbec, Jeter Downs, and Jarren Duran.
Park last appeared in an MLB game on September 7th. He had one at-bat in a 10-0 loss to the New York Mets.
Before the at-bat against the Mets, he had not appeared in a game since July 3rd against the Milwaukee Brewers. He did not have an at-bat in this contest.
He hit his first home run of the season on June 19th against the San Francisco Giants in a 4-3 win. Then, on June 24th, he hit his second home run in a 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
According to Baseball Reference, he is projected to have a .227 batting average. They are also projecting that he will have six home runs and 25 RBIs in 245 plate appearances.
