16-year-old Sprint car driver Ashton Torgerson was ejected from his vehicle as he competed in Wednesday’s Chili Bowl feature. This was the first midget race of his career.
Torgerson was involved in a scary flip when he was running seventh. His car his the retaining wall before flipping several times.

Seconds later after the crash, Torgerson had medical personnel at his vehicle. His crash caused the race to go under red flag conditions.

Several minutes later, the FloRacing announcers came back on air to announce that he was aware. And that he was communicating with the first responders.
He was eventually stabilized before being put in an ambulance. Torgerson was then taken to a nearby hospital.
“Ashton Torgerson was transported to a Tulsa hospital following an accident during Wednesday’s preliminary feature event at the Chili Bowl Nationals,” the official Chili Bowl Nationals said on their Twitter account. “Ashton was alert and communicating with track officials before being transported. We will update when we have more information.”

At this time, it is not clear if Torgerson will be able to complete his attempt to make the Chili Bowl Nationals. The historic event will take place on Saturday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
